FTSE4GoodTM is an index series for socially responsible investment (SRI) set up by FTSE, the leading global index providers. If you want to check who's trying to be ethical and who's not, FTSE4GoodTM is a benchmark to consider. Independently defined and researched, FTSE4GoodTM aims to set an objective global standard for SRI.
The FTSE4GoodTM Selection Criteria cover 3 areas:
working towards environmental sustainability
developing positive relationships with stakeholders
upholding and supporting universal human rights.
If a company wants to get into the FTSE4GoodTM, it needs to go through a whole load of internationally accepted selection criteria. The criteria focus on the positive efforts of companies in three areas, and are meant to be clear and achievable targets for companies to use in developing socially responsible policies and practices. If the FTSE4GoodTM decides the company is being ethical in three areas, then they let them in.
