What information and ID do I need to open a smile current account?

If you meet our eligibility, you can apply for a smile current account right here.

To open a current account with us, we'll need to know:

  • Your name
  • Home Address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Date of Birth
  • Nationality.

And if you've moved in the last three years, we will also need the address and postcode of where you have lived before.

  • If applicable, we will also need:
  • The account number and sort code of your present bank or building society account
  • Your regular outgoings including mortgage/rent, council tax and household bills
  • Your basic employment details.

Once you apply, we’ll need to check your identity with credit reference agencies, but we might need to ask for some documents from you before we open your account. If so, you'll need to provide a proof of ID and a proof of address.
