How do I make a payment?

There are a number of different ways that you can make a payment.

Mobile app:

You can make the following payments through the mobile banking app:

  • Save and pay a new payee
  • Pay a saved payee
  • Transfer money between your Co-operative Bank accounts
  • Make a payment direct to your Co-operative Bank credit card
  • Make a one off payment up to £250 in a 24 hour period


If you're making a payment to someone new, we will ask you to verify this by using your fingerprint, passnumber or Face ID. Protecting you from fraud is our top priority. When paying someone new we will check that you're confident about who you are paying. We'll do this by guiding you through tailored information about the type of payment you're making. If you do not want to continue or you are unsure about making the payment, you will have the option to cancel it and contact us to discuss your concerns.

Online banking:

You can make the following payments through online banking:

  • Manage your Direct Debits and standing orders
  • Set up future dated payments and standing orders
  • Make payments to new and existing recipients
  • Pay a company using our list of known companies
  • Transfer money between your Co-operative Bank accounts

Please note: If you're making a payment to someone new or amending a standing order, you’ll need to enter your password, 6-digit security code and a verification code we will send to you by text message or email. It's important that you never tell anyone your verification code. Protecting you from fraud is our top priority. When paying someone new we will check that you're confident about who you are paying. We'll do this by guiding you through tailored information about the type of payment you're making. If you do not want to continue or you are unsure about making the payment, you will have the option to cancel it and contact us to discuss your concerns.

Automated telephone banking:

Our automated telephone banking service lets you check your balance and make payments between your Co-operative Bank accounts, without speaking to a customer advocate.

If you need to make a payment for more than £19,999 or you sending money outside of the UK for more than £10,000, you can call us on +44(0)3457 212 212. Lines are open 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm Saturday and Sunday.
